Grow’s first art exhibit.

In early May of 2021, our friend Theo HAD to show us this crazy creator house that he recently visited on a Facebook marketplace run….and so we went. The old Hard Rock Cafe on Wall St in downtown Los Angeles had been bought and converted to a creator house run by an ex-Strokes A&R named Mike. A collective of artists had lived and worked here for the last 15 years, but they were getting evicted and were in everything must go mode.

While showing us around the place, the creative inhabitants told us they were having an art show that Saturday as a final hoorah. Like the virgin we were we asked if we could host our first art exhibit there. They said “let’s get it on…what do you want to do?” We told them we wanted to bring art supplies and let the guests of the show have a creative moment. They said “well, we have a blank white room you could use,” and so we did.

On the night of the show, the vibes were immaculate, the music was loud, and the art was cathartic. Hundreds of people came to our exhibit, dipped their toes in the rainbow water, and left their mark.

We really wish we had a before picture, here’s the after:

The Scene

Exactly like the first video, just with a different tune.
