The Naughty Neighbors NFT Project

Check out our website.

Initially, we watched from afar as our software developer friend Berto incepted the idea for Naughty Neighbors. As he and his girlfriend Elena flushed out the art, we began to get more involved. The Naughty team was looking for unique marketing ideas and naturally we began to spin the wheels.

We snowballed into the idea of animated creative content with the naughty creatures they had designed. Roberto tasked us with building a universe, a world and a narrative. So we did. We’re in talks with animation studios and music producers to get the content rolling!

Below you’ll find the characters, the team, and the world and story of the Naughty Neighbors.

Lore

Deep across space there is an alternate universe. Within, we find the highly volcanic planet Helena. Helena is not too dissimilar from earth; similar physics and weather, though the two main differences are that there is no water, only lava, and only one continent, which the inhabitants call Etna. The planet is home to the complex and highly intelligent bipedal beings, the Yayas.

The year is 4269. With no war for hundreds of years, the Yayas have turned their attention to art and luxury. Yaya civilization is amidst a golden age, a renaissance some are calling it. Still, there exists a growing wealth gap among the Yayas and civil unrest is not all that uncommon. Though the ruling oligarchs, the Van Pecunia Family, crush any and all resistance to their rule with an iron fist. The currency of Etna is the yalla.

Far from any unrest there exists an uber wealthy community in the city of Volcano Valley; Magma Manors. This luxurious estate is located high up on the ridge of a highly active volcano. Magma Manors is home to some of the planet’s wealthiest, most prestigious and renowned Yayas. The community has a plethora of offerings; golf, tennis, skiing, spas, parasailing, restaurants, museums, and much more (not to mention its own private police force). No cars are allowed on the roads, only the Yaya golf carts. The ownership and management of this great estate has been passed down for centuries through the VanPecunia Family. The current head of the Magma Manors is Penny Van Pecunia, niece of the Etnan king, Robert Van Pecunia.

27 years ago, upon her 13th birthday, Penny Van Pecunia, like all her royal family members, was given a commissioned Selinian Egg by her uncle Robert. An extravagant piece of artwork known for its incredible craftsmanship and a symbol of Van Pecunian rule. There are only 113 in existence and each is worth billions of yallas. She keeps the egg on display in the Magma Manors Museum, under extremely high security.

Premise

The Naughty Neighbors series is a cartoon heist comedy. Season one follows the life of the illustrious Magma Manors’ newest land owners and community members; Gary and Lucy Blackwell. As closeted art thieves, they are 4 years deep in a cover that would get them approved to join the Magma Manors community. They are posing as Gary and Lucy Whitewater; Gary, the faux highly successful wealth manager, and Lucy, his faux stay at home wife. Though in reality they are both some of the world's most successful, cunning and dangerous burglars.

They’ve been running this 4 year con to get into Magma Manors so that they can get close to Penny’s Selinian Egg, learn its defenses and pull off their greatest heist yet. Gary is the mastermind, the brains behind the operation and the technological genius who can hack into anything. Lucy is the acrobat, the hardened soldier, the master at sleight of hand.

For this Bonnie and Clyde meets Batman and Catwoman-esque duo, the challenge beyond the heist is keeping their covers, and trying to fit in with this annoying and snooty community. The challenge really heats up when Ms. Penny Van Pecunia and her surface-level best friend Jenny begin to take a liking to the couple. It doesn’t help that their next door neighbor Andy, a grouchy old man, is absolutely convinced that they are up to something and will stop at nothing to uncover their secret. Andy, with the help of his incredibly-incompetent nephew-sidekick Harry, goes to great and embarrassing lengths to prove he’s right about the Whitewater (“If that’s even their real name.”) family to Ms. Penny Van Pecunia. Penny believes Andy to be crazy and constantly assures him that her chief of community police, Lary Idle, has everything under control. Unfortunately for Andy and the Selinian Egg, the only thing Larry has under control is his morning donut routine.

After much reconnaissance, the Whitewaters find out that the egg is guarded at all times, surrounded by cameras and lasers, and when not on display held in an impenetrable vault. The heist will be nearly impossible, require a lot of gear and the only way to pull it off will put their lives at risk. Finally, on the day of The Grand Magma Manors Gala, after genius planning and a death defying heist, Gary and Lucy eventually make off with the Selinian Egg due to help from an inside accomplice and it’s revealed that the egg was not just an art piece, but a map to hidden treasure.

Character Treatments

Gary Blackwell

Gary and Lucy together are our protagonists. Greedy Gary has all the wealth he could ever need to live a happy life but he always wants more…always wants a bigger score, and it's not just about the money, he’s got an ego and a reputation to protect among thieves. He wants to make it very clear that he is the richest and greatest thief of all time. It's true he is a mastermind and a hacker tech wiz, but his ego is a crippling internal battle that only Lucy can save him from. He grew up a blue collar kid on the destitute south side of Ashmont (capital city). He started his thief career by cracking atms and evolved over time into stealing wire transfers and draining bank accounts.

He met his lovely wife Lucy Stone Blackwell when he accidentally drained all her money from her account. He’s been to prison once before, but escaped on the first day. He wears the cover of Gary Whitewater, a secretive and very rich investment advisor. He’s also a closeted penny pincher so spending money to fit in to the crowd is a real pain for him. For fun, he likes to play chess against computers, and count his money in his various secret bank accounts. He’s nerdy, greedy, unsatisfied, no one really likes him except for Lucy, and Jenny, who wants to steal him away.

Lucy Blackwell

Lucy is an astonishingly beautiful woman and all the men in the series fall for her, and eventually all take their shot. She’s enthusiastic, optimistic, sly with words, a master of temptation and deception. She’s also got an extremely well developed palette for the finer things in life; wines, classical music, and especially art. She is an orphan, and like Gary, grew up on the south side of Ashmont (though she and Gary did not know each other as kids). She started her thief career by stealing watches and wallets off people on the subway. Eventually she became a cat burglar of fine art pieces. She grew into becoming an incredibly cunning thief, and a highly developed art connoisseur.

She’s obsessed with the Selinian Eggs, and will do anything to get one into her stolen art collection. Lucy puts on a painful front as a stay at home mom but is an extremely capable woman. She and Gary live in a luxurious home on Lava Lane. It has a large entryway and entertaining room, a two car garage, and a pool with a jacuzzi out back. Underneath their lovely home is their secret spy lair full of their various heist needs. Lucy has an incredibly hard time faking that she likes hanging out with Penny and Jenny, even though they take a liking to her and it's a necessary evil to learn more about the Egg’s defenses.

Penny Van Pecunia

Penny is the unfortunate victim of our story. She’s Waspy, snooty, and quite shallow. She runs the Magma Manors community and is responsible for keeping the members entertained, safe and satisfied. She takes much pride in her job, as it has been passed down through her Royal family for generations. She’s the niece of King Robert the First and is extremely proud of it. In fact, she’s extremely proud of everything; her wealth, her community, her family, her hair…everything.

She lives in Magma Manors’ most extravagant home, as lavish and luxurious as you can possibly imagine. She has a full 12 car garage although she never drives, lots of expensive art pieces, high ceilings, expensive chandeliers, and lots of maids. Penny feels like she’s too good for any man. Her best friend Jenny is always attached at her hip and will agree with anything she says. All Penny ever wanted was to be viewed as the most elegant and prestigious woman on the planet. She loves to be pampered and frequents the spas and salons that Magma Manors has to offer.

Jenny Montvernon

Jenny is Penny’s best friend and loyal follower, though she’s secretly extremely jealous of her. Jenny comes from the second wealthiest family in the world, second to Pennys.  She’s constantly one upped by Penny and put in her place as the beta. She loves to do whatever Penny is doing and seems like she’s always by her side. She’s married, but unhappily and would love to steal Gary away from Lucy.

Andy Vaughan

Andy is our villain, the true detective who will stop at nothing to uncover the Blackwell family’s mysterious secret. He is one of the biggest threats to stopping the heist from happening. He lives in the most modest house on Lava Lane. It's still nice, but only one floor so he can get around in his wheelchair and there’s an extra bedroom for his nephew Harry. He’s retired, but like Gary’s cover, was also a wealth manager, which leads him to suspect something fishy with our protagonist couple.

His dream to unveil the mystery of who Gary and Lucy really are is always foiled by sheer unluckiness, the clever escapes of the dynamic duo, and his incapable, incompetent nephew accomplice Harry. In the process of trying to find them out he often gets caught in embarrassing situations by Larry and Penny. He insists to them that Gary and Lucy are up to something but they would never believe this insane old man.

Harry Vaughan

Harry’s parents unfortunately died in a car accident, and left him with a gigantic trust fund. He was given to Andy, his uncle, for safekeeping. He takes the lead role of being Andy’s incompetent accomplice to catch the thieves. He seems to always foil Andy’s plans to trap Gary and Lucy either due to his idiocy or his constant hunger for bananas. The only thing he wants is to get a night alone with Lucy and a pile of bananas. He puts up with and obeys his uncle because he feels an obligation. Although, he never quite lives up to his uncle's expectations, and is always getting yelled at for failing. Whenever he’s about to succeed he gets swindled by Lucy, or bananas.

Larry Idle

Larry is the incompetent Head of Magma Manors Community Watch, just like his father, who was great at the job, but has since retired and unfortunately for the manors, handed over the reins to Larry. He takes it extremely easy on the job and only perks up when Penny is around. He’s lazy and hates having to leave his chair and television. Andy asking him to investigate the couple is a constant nuisance. The only thing he has on lock is his morning donuts routine.
